So I was at the dance studio for four hours last night. Not all of it was active rehearsing because a major traffic snafu kept my troupemates from getting to the studio on time. I did the best I could to keep my energy up for a long rehearsal and I ended up completely collapsing as soon as I got home. I think one of the the most frustrating things about dancing (and sometimes this goes for yoga too!) is that sometimes I know exactly what I need to do, but my body is just not on board. Visualization sometimes works to resolve this, and is especially effective when I am just too exhausted to run that choreography one more time! The brain can still practice while the body rests. This is also good to remember when you're too pooped for an asana practice, because there are seven more limbs of yoga you can explore just by cracking open a book or examining yourself. As for me, I'm going to take a break this afternoon, listen to my music, and maybe treat myself to a bit of a restorative practice so I can be all pepped and prepped for more rehearsal and teaching tomorrow!
