Yoga Video: Panchamaya Chant

I love this panchamaya chant because it is a reminder that you are more than your physical body, and it expresses gratitude for your whole being. Panchamaya is a concept in yoga philosophy that  outlines the five layers (sometimes also called koshas) of the self. You don’t have to have an expert singing voice to practice chanting (I don’t!) and you can also repeat it to yourself silently.

Here are the words:

Om (hey universe)

Om namah (gratitude)

Om annamaya namah (physical body)

Om pranamaya namah (breath)

Om manomaya namah (mind)

Om vinjanamaya namah (emotions)

Om anandamaya namah (bliss)

Om namah (gratitude)

Om (universe)
