Zakhara Dance Company is a fusion belly dance collaborative troupe directed by Flissy with an emphasis on experimentation, complex compositions, and dynamic group formations. Comprised of versatile dancers from a variety of backgrounds, Zakhara incorporates elements from many approaches to dance including traditional dances of the Middle East, classic American Cabaret, modern transnational, and freeform improvisation to create a wide range of playful and theatrical dance pieces. Based in Maryland, the dancers are: Kalistra, Della, Ghadir, Megan Lee, and Flissy.

Flissy

Flissy founded this troupe as an outlet to throw down with peers and create a cooperative environment where strong dancers can make exciting art together.

In love with camaraderie through dance since she started studying group improvisational belly dance in 2006, Flissy has enjoyed performing professionally with Kallisti, Transcendence, and as a guest dancer in Barakaat’s KIN, to today where she performs as a member of Latifa’s Banat al-Beled.

Della

Della is a fusion belly dancer based in the Annapolis area, who's belly dance journey started with folkloric in Greensboro North Carolina and has continued with tribal fusion in the DC/Baltimore/Annapolis area. She is currently studying Datura Style belly dance and is excited to bring her eclectic taste and background to the group.

Ghadir

Ghadir is a professional bellydancer admired for her dramatic style, musicality and grace. A great lover of collaborative creativity, Ghadir's soul shimmies with the spirit of the dance.

Megan Lee

Megan Lee first started bellydancing in 2005. She currently teaches and performs a variety of bellydance styles, including American cabaret, fusion, and tribal improv.

Kalistra

Kalistra is an award winning fusion dancer who gives creates characters and stories through dramatic performances. Creative, intense,deep, or silly, whichever side of Kalistra you get, it is never boring.

Robin

Robin has spent her life performing as a dancer, vocalist and actress. In 2012 she discovered belly dance and has enjoyed multiple opportunities to perform, to create, and to teach and work with others as a certified ATS instructor and sister studio.
